Our History

Carr Farm has grown over a great many years into a local favourite, a destination shopping garden centre and an online retail shop. We are proud to be a locally, and independently, owned and run by the Jones family who have been running Carr Farm since the 1940’s when Joseph (Joe) Jones first took over the farm.

During the Second World War Joe was commended for his efforts in potato production. and for a long period of time the farm also kept a dairy herd. The farm shop, bustling with local customers, was where fruit, vegetables and dairy produce could be purchased.

Gradually Dave and Sue took over the running of the farm and it became apparent that Carr Farm would need to diversify and evolve, by 1982 Carr Farm Garden Centre was becoming well established. Up until recently you may have seen hay being made in the front fields in time honoured fashion.

Over the past three decades years the Garden Centre has developed dramatically; The old farm yard buildings have been transformed into a courtyard of small shops. Sadly Joe passed away in 2003, however the family continues to run the site, with the added help of granddaughter Cath, and grandsons Ben & Tom.

In 2014 a major revamp of the garden centre began with the first phase completed by February 2015. A state of the art 300 cover restaurant, and refurbished retail areas transformed the garden centre into an even better day out.

As a garden centre, we aim to maintain an ambient family atmosphere with traditional values, striving to also provide everything you expect from a modern garden centre, making a visit to Carr Farm a memorable experience.
